Russia's Hypersonic Oreshnik Missile Strike on Ukraine: A Deep Dive into the Conflict's Escalation
The recent conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen a significant escalation with the deployment of Russia's advanced hypersonic Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic (IRBM) missile. This weapon, which can travel at an astonishing speed of 13,000 kilometers per hour, has been used to target critical infrastructure in Lviv, Western Ukraine, according to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi. This attack comes amidst a backdrop of intense diplomatic efforts, including the US-led initiatives to end Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. The CIA, backed by US officials and President Donald Trump, has confirmed that Ukraine did not target Putin's residence.
