Get ready for an exciting comeback story! Constitution Hill's return to the track is almost here, and the anticipation is building.
This star hurdler, who won the 2023 Champion Hurdle, is set to make a grand reappearance in the BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. And his trainer, Nicky Henderson, is feeling confident.
Constitution Hill's final preparations took place at Newbury, where he showed his stuff in a successful gallop. Henderson shared, "If that was a race, I'd be about as confident as I could ever be about a horse."
But here's where it gets controversial...
Constitution Hill's last outing at Punchestown didn't go as planned, and some might question whether he can bounce back. However, Henderson believes they've made significant progress. "He's lengthened and looks more quality-filled," he said. "We've had to delve into his mind and unravel the issues."
And this is the part most people miss...
Constitution Hill's preparation has been meticulous. He's had two racecourse gallops, including one at Newbury on the same day as his rival, The New Lion. Henderson revealed, "The New Lion went round half an hour earlier, and we kept them separate."
So, will Constitution Hill rise like a phoenix from the ashes? Or is this a tale of a once-great horse's decline?
