A heroic Alaska Airlines pilot, Captain Brandon Fisher, is taking legal action against Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, for attempting to shift blame onto him and his crew after a near-catastrophic incident. Fisher, who has been widely celebrated for his skill and composure in safely landing a jet with 177 passengers aboard, is now seeking justice for what he believes is an unfair defamation of his character.
The incident, which occurred in January 2024, involved a door plug panel flying off shortly after takeoff, creating a dangerous air vacuum. Despite the challenging circumstances, Fisher and his crew managed to land the plane safely, preventing any loss of life. This feat earned him praise from aviation authorities and even Boeing executives.
However, Fisher's lawyers argue that Boeing's attempts to evade responsibility in past lawsuits, despite an NTSB investigation implicating both Boeing and its supplier, Spirit Aerosystems, have led to Fisher being sued by some passengers. This has caused him significant distress, as he feels betrayed by a company that claims to hold pilots in high regard.
"Boeing's actions have been nothing short of a personal betrayal," said Fisher's legal team, William Walsh and Richard Mummalo. "Captain Fisher's expertise and quick thinking saved lives that day, yet he is now facing legal repercussions due to Boeing's attempts to deflect blame."
